Research Trip

When we were in Chile, we were given the opportunity to play with the children of Coaniquem. When I met Martina, she was in pain from her burn injuries. All I could think to do was to ask about her dreams. Her biggest wish was to become a ladybug. Seeing Martina’s beaming face while imagining herself as ladybug made me realize the child-like wonder of dreaming is what helps us see beyond our immediate pain and connects us with others. Being injured shouldn’t prevent anyone from the ability to dream.
